McCarthy is most known from her breakthrough role as Megan Price in the 2011 comedy hit Bridesmaids, which earned her success including an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for also Best Supporting Actress. McCarthy first appeared as an actress on the television series Gilmore girls in the 2000’s, then went on to do Samantha Who, and now currently stars on the CBS sitcom Mike & Molly.
McCarthy is now working on a new venture as she launched her clothing line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7 on August 13. McCarthy actually moved to New York in the 1980s to follow her aspirations to be become a fashion designer and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology before she became the hilarious and witty actress as we know her.
“Women come in all sizes” McCarthy says, as she admits not liking the segregated plus section. She also said she found shopping disappointing for the fact of not having many options for her size. “That’s the big part of the fun for me, making clothes for all women,” she says as her clothing consists of regular to plus sizes. Her merchandise is now available on Nordstrom.com, Macys.com, HSN and Lane Bryant.
